17th November

I've started working with acetate so that movement can be seen between each of my drawings.
I copied three of my drawings onto acetate first to try it and see would it work. I put them one over the other but it just came out very messy, so here I spaced them out, making a gap between each piece with wood sticks.

I decided to go bigger, with bigger spaces, and make the drawings more accurate.

I got a frame made, drew out ten of my drawings onto acetate, punched holes in the top and hung them from the frame.

This didn't work very well as the bottom of the acetates stuck together. I'm going to put the paper rods through the bottom corners too so that they'll be separated. More pictures to come!

15th November

I tried doing some Shibori last night.. it took me over two hours!

As I'm working with molds I thought it would be an interesting texture to experiment with. I have yet to finish it but heres how its looking so far...
REFERENCE MATERIAL

I took apart an old necklace, wrapped each pearl in the cloth, and tied string around it.

I really like the detail that came out on the back, but the front refers to mold more.

9th November

I'm still working on my fridge painting. It's taking me a long time but I plan to get it finished during the next few days.

I was messing around with the idea of silhouettes during the last two weeks and realised it was easier to track the movement of the items in the fridge when they were just black or white with no details. I made a series of shapes out of news paper..
I then glued magnets to the back of them and stuck them onto my fridge. I took pictures, changing the order each time, and put them all into Movie Maker. I'm happy with how it turned out.. but I'm going to do it again with shelves drawn in and making sure the objects aren't crooked!

I changed the effect and got this outcome which I prefer.

5th November

Since the progress reviews I must admit I haven't done much work. I was sick for a few days and then Halloween and the long weekend was here so I had a lot of distractions! But I'm ready to get back into it now.. I have lots of ideas that I need to get started on and I'm excited about that!

I started looking at molds that grow on food by getting images of it under the microscope from Google as this was a lot prettier than the real thing! I started experimenting with textures to create patches inspired by these images.
